With the development of this disease, patients can get different symptoms in different period. Here are some of the common seen symptoms in diabetic kidney disease.
1. Bubbles in urine or foamy urine
This is the most early seen symptom when kidneys are damaged, which means the leakage out of protein in urine. About 1/3 patients can get large amount of protein in urine.
2. Swelling or edema
Similar with nephrotic syndrome patients, diabetic kidney disease patients can also get swelling in body due to kidney damage. Swelling can occur in lower legs, ankles, face, eyelids, and so on. In some severe condition, patients can get edema all over the body.
3. High blood pressure
Most of the patients can get different degree of high blood pressure, which can be cause by fluid-sodium retention and too much renin secretion due to kidney damage. The high blood pressure can also cause further kidney damage in turn.
4. Renal anemia
This is one of the most common seen complication due to low kidney function. When patients get anemia, they can have the symptoms such as fatigue, weakness, dizziness, difficult in breathing, and so on.
5. Digestive system symptoms
Patients can also get some digestive problems, such as poor appetite, nausea, vomiting, black stool, diarrhea, and so on.
6. Metabolic acidosis
This symptom is often happened when patients get into advanced stage, kidneys fail to work adequately. Once patients get the metabolic acidosis, they can have the symptoms such as fatigue, nausea and vomiting, etc.
